INSIGHT OF YOUTH 2025: CALL FOR ARTWORK
CALL FOR ARTWORK! Insight of Youth (IOY) is now accepting artwork submissions from young Idaho artists! This year's theme, chosen by program ambassador Lakai Cahill (18), is "Premonitions."
Premonition: A strong feeling that something is about to happen, especially something unpleasant. "What makes you feel this way? Dive into our culture, environment, and society to truly reflect what’s happening around you. What can we do to counter these premonitions? We have the power of art on our side, so let’s use it to make a change." —Lakai Cahill, 2024/25 IOY Ambassador In 2022, at the age of 16, Jake Gonzales founded the annual exhibition series Insight of Youth (IOY) with the goal of "showing people what youth are feeling and experiencing through the expression of art." IOY annual exhibitions feature original work by Idaho teen artists created in response to a specific theme. Artists aged 13 to 19 are invited to submit pieces inspired by the chosen topic. Submissions are evaluated by a panel of local and international artists, and selected works will be showcased at MING Studios in February 2025. Artists have the option to sell their artwork through a silent auction. 50% of the auction proceeds go to the artist, and 50% will be donated to Organization TBA. HOW IT WORKS
Create an artwork that addresses the theme ‘’Premonitions.’’ Provide us with quality photos of the artwork you are submitting and tell us a little bit about the story/idea behind it. If your art piece is 3D, please take pictures from different angles. Apply by filling out the 'SUBMIT YOUR ARTWORK!' form on this webpage. A group of young and professional artists will review and select artwork to be exhibited at MING Studios in February, 2025. Lakai Cahill (2024/25 IOY Ambassador), M Souriya (2023 IOY Ambassador), Jake Gonzales (IOY Founder), Kristen Cooper (Artist & MING Studios Artistic Director), and local & international artists will select artwork based on its response to the theme, artistic quality, and cohesion to the guidelines. If your artwork is selected, you will be contacted February 7, 2025 with further information about artwork drop-off and event details. The silent auction will take place during the exhibition period. Artists are NOT required to auction their work. For artists who choose to auction their submissions, 50% of the proceeds will go to Organization TBA and the other 50% will go to you! GUIDELINES

Meet Lakai Cahill! IOY's 2024/25 Ambassador
I’m Lakai Cahill, an 18 year old aspiring photographer. I strive to encase thought provoking and inspiring art. Sometimes I just do it for fun and sometimes I do it for a reason. Art doesn't have to be one thing or the other and that's what I love about it the most. I did not take the path most do when it comes to education, and dropped out of 8th grade in 2020 and when I did that my parents seized the opportunity and took me across the world. From there I lived out of an old GMC van in the deserts of Utah with my family, swam the beaches of Costa Rica, and traveled across Spain and Czechia. When I turned 18 I joined the Idaho Conservation Corps to live and work in the woods for 5 weeks and visited Iceland in August 2024 with a group of kids from across the world. I was lucky enough to be able to grow my photography skills while traveling and studying, and I learned the importance of art while abroad. Art is a universal language. And it is everywhere. Not only is it a language but it’s a big colorful voice, which we can use to say what we cannot. That's what I want this project to be about, changing the world with art.
