03/08/26 A multimedia evening examining pop culture through three perspectives: fiction by Daniel Mosakewicz, music by MJ Avila-Pope, and video collage by Andy Wynn.
Daniel Mosakewicz grew up on a steady diet of comics, Star Wars, and books about things that could not possibly happen. He earned his degrees in English Literature and History from Appalachian State. Originally from North Carolina, he now resides in Boise where he eats too much Mexican food and listens to too much Bruce Springsteen. MJ Avila-Pope is a visual artist and musician currently located in Boise, Idaho. With a background in musical performance and composition, her primary mediums include video, sculpture, poetry, and musical composition, often creating pieces that bring together multiple mediums. MJ feels compelled to make work full of movement and explores her identity as a queer woman and ecofeminist through gothic and surreal imagery. Andy Wynn is a video artist and archivist originally from Boise, Idaho, now living in Sacramento, California. He has a lasting fondness for VHS scanlines. An obsessive scraper of hidden Internet corners, Andy constructs portraits of subcultures from fandoms to hate groups through video and image collages. His work is one part playful, one part political, and one part purely bizarre. |
