Insight of Youth Exhibition & Auction 2023 CALL FOR ARTWORK! Insight of Youth (IOY) is now accepting artwork submissions from young Treasure Valley artists!
Jake Gonzales (17) founded the annual exhibition series Insight of Youth in 2022 with the goal to "show people what youth are feeling and experiencing through the expression of art." IOY exhibitions showcase original work by Treasure Valley teen artists in response to a specific theme. This year's theme, chosen by program ambassador M Souriya (18), is "What Brings Us Together." "Within art is power and through the theme, What Brings Us Together, I hope to unite this community as a reminder that everyone is connected in more ways than we may think." -M Souriya Artists between the ages of 13 and 19 are invited to submit artwork inspired by the topic. Submissions are reviewed by a group of local artists. Selected artwork will be exhibited at MING Studios in April 2023. Artists have the option to sell their artwork through a silent auction. 50% of the auction proceeds go to the artist, and 50% will be donated to the Ukrainian Welcome Center. HOW IT WORKS
Create an artwork that addresses the theme ‘’What Brings Us Together.’’ Provide us with quality photos of the artwork you are submitting and tell us a little bit about the story/idea behind it. If your art piece is 3D, please take pictures from different angles. Apply by filling out the 'SUBMIT YOUR ARTWORK!' form on this webpage. A group of young and professional artists will review and select artwork to be exhibited at MING Studios in April. M Souriya (2023 Project Lead), Jake Gonzales (Project Founder), Kristen Cooper (Artist & MING Studios Artistic Director), & other local artists will select artwork based on its response to the theme, artistic quality, and cohesion to the guidelines below. If your artwork is selected, you will be contacted March 22, 2023 with further information about artwork drop-off and event details. The silent auction will take place during the exhibition's opening event at MING Studios, on Friday, April 7, 2023. Artists are NOT required to auction their work. For artists who choose to auction their submissions, 50% of the proceeds will go to the Ukrainian Welcome Center and the other 50% will go to you! GUIDELINES

Meet M Souriya!
IOY's 2023 Ambassador Hello, my name is M Souriya (he/him), I'm a recent graduate of Nampa High School, class of 2022. Ever since I was a kid I've had an interest in art, taking every art class I could from Drawing/Painting I to AP Studio Art. I've been a freelance artist since middle school exploring a variety of mediums from acrylic and oil paints to spray paints. More recently I've been focusing on giving my works meaning and how to influence others, which is why I've chosen the theme What Brings Us Together. Within art is power and through this theme I hope to bring the community together as a reminder that everyone is connected in more ways than we may think. |
Meet Jake Gonzales!
IOY's Founder My name is Jake Gonzales, and I'm 17 years old. My goal as the founder of Insight of Youth is to show adults the insight of teenagers through artistic expression. Last year, Insight of Youth started as my senior project, and it has grown into an impactful annual exhibition. I graduated from high school early. So, now I currently work as a violin teacher at a charter school. I plan on working until I attend college later in the year. Aside from that, in my free time I enjoy painting, drawing, doing cosmetology, sculpting, engineering, and crocheting. |
